Is a fax legally valid?

A fax transmission report proves that a document was transmitted in full to a fax number at a specific time – not that it was read. Courts assess how much that counts differently; formal requirements take precedence.

Video transcript

Is a fax legally valid? In short: the transmission report proves the transmission, but not that anyone has read the fax. I'll explain what that means for you. This is not legal advice. A transmission report shows which number the fax was sent to, when, with how many pages, and whether it worked. What it doesn't show is whether anyone has actually read the fax. This is what a transmission report looks like, with a preview of the first page. At the top of every fax is your sender ID, which you set in your account. Keep the report together with the document. How much a transmission report counts in a dispute is assessed differently by different courts. Some declarations also require a specific form, such as the signed original. Check that beforehand. You can check the status in the chat at any time. Delivered means transmitted in full to the receiving device. The report is available by email and in your customer area. You'll find the link to mcpfax in the description. How to meet a court deadline by fax is shown in the next video. Subscribe to the channel.
